Royal Caribbean International’s newest cruise ship, Allure of the Seas, the world’s largest and most revolutionary cruise ship, is home to Carousel Works newest carousel creation. Hand-crafted and especially designed by Carousel Works for Royal Caribbean International, this full-sized, traditional carousel is truly one-of-a-kind.

The Boardwalk Neighborhood on Allure is designed to be a breathtaking space for families inspired by the nostalgic seaside piers of yesteryear; so the carousel was created using inspiration from turn-of-the-century carousel designs down to the very last detail. Even the original artwork scenery panels located on the carousel’s eight Rounding Boards feature custom painted scenes to highlight the wistfulness of life on the historic seaside piers.

The carousel features eighteen figures suspended from stainless steel poles and one ADA accessible chariot that were created from poplar wood. Eleven of the figures are traditional style carousel horses that include the intricately designed Royal Caribbean lead armored horse, that even features the crown and anchor logo. The Allure Carousel also showcases a time-honored menagerie of animals such as a zebra, tiger

cub, bear, snow leopard and even a crowned frog prince. The stationary chariot is an elegantly adorned traditional carriage.

In September 2010, the Carousel Works installation crew traveled to the shipyard in Turku, Finland in order to install the carousel aboard Allure. The installation took approximately 2 weeks to complete.
