Installed September 2009

Carousel Works of Mansfield, OH joined forces with the Emmy award winning ABC-TV program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to create a carousel themed room for the Marshall Family of Lancaster, Texas.

Officer Marshall was shot in the line of duty as he served on the Dallas Police SWAT team. He is now deaf, partially paralyzed, and has since suffered through a stroke and meningitits. Their young daughter suffers from seizures as well. The family volunteers their time with TROT, a form of horse therapy for children with disabilities. What a deserving family!

Carousel Works was contacted by producers of the show to work with EMHE designer Paul DiMeo to create a one-of-a-kind carousel room for 3-year old Jessica. With not much time, the artists at Carousel Works worked diligently late into the night to create 2 figures, a one-of-a-kind chariot bed and additional special decorative pieces for this unique venture. During the process, Paul even visited the CWI carousel factory in Mansfield, OH to gain a hands-on on knowledge of how wooden carousels are created and see the EMHE project in progress.

Carousel Works employees transported the finished pieces to Texas to complete the installation in the carousel room and also spent the week onsite during the creation of the Marshall’s new home.
